Coming 29th August 2009 is DSG Sports Day! There will be plenty of activities for everyone on that day such as Human Foosball, Hand Pong, Ultimate Frisbee, Dodge ball and many more. Be sure to be down before 7.30am because that is when the flagbreak will begin. Dragon Chapter members are also invited to be present, and you will be invited to join your former patrol as a “guest patrol member” to help earn points for the patrol. As a follow-up to my previous post on site availability, tweets are now posted on our Twitter whenever we receive an alert if the website goes down and recovers after that. However, it should be noted that these tweets could be lagging by up to 30 minutes. This feature is useful for users of Twitter. Remember to follow us if you are using Twitter.

 Site Availability screenshot on Facebook Some of you should be noticed this section (previously known as “Uptime”), box in red in the above screenshot, on our Facebook page for a while now. As you may know, our website may occasionally go offline (server hangs, restarts, error serving page, etc…) which are beyond our control. Our website is generally stable and seldom goes offline for extended period of time, but when that happens, it is good to keep you informed as well. Facebook and Twitter can fill in this gap as they are located off-site and they have the budget (and incentive) to keep their website almost 100% online and available to everyone. It is also not possible to us to constantly monitor and update there whenever the website is offline, so we have engaged the service of 3rd party service providers to show the site availability as they check our website at regular intervals.
